    **Description: A fine, white to slight yellowish-white powder; odourless and tasteless. It is slightly soluble in water or it is insoluble in alcohol, ether and chloroform. When exposed to air, it becomes granular and loses the property of solidifying when mixed with water. It occurs naturally as gypsum and is also prepared by adding a soluble sulphate to a solution of calcium salt.
